A portrait of Jacqui Lofthouse

Jacqui Lofthouse is a respected author and writing coach who recently got in touch as she needs an up-to-date professional photograph for her new book which is soon to be published and her new website. As it happens she'd seen some of my photos before following an event I photographed a while ago at the RAC club.

Jacqui opted for the 2.5 hour portrait package so that we could try out various different styles and approaches at a more leisurely pace. This was great because it meant we could do some classic studio-based portraits as well as some environmental portraiture. (It also meant we could capture some of the rest of the family with any time we had remaining!)

My personal favourite is the photograph above - I love her natural pose and the bookshelves give a bit of context without being too overt about her vocation.

Commercial portraits (Chris Cook)

Chris got in touch over the Christmas period as he needed some professional photos for his website. The brief was fairly simple - something which looked professional yet welcoming and informal. We only had an hour but between us I think we managed to hit the brief spot on!

I hope I look this good by my mid 70s

I couldn't resist posting a few photos I took recently of my father. I'm sure he won't mind me saying he's in his mid 70s. Devilishly good looks for a man of his mature years!

Corporate headshots

If you're at all familiar with my work you'll see I do a lot of family and child portraits but you may not be aware that I also do corporate work as well. Here's a small selection of headshots from a recent shoot with Anthony who's President of the Hallmark Group. We did some formal shots to begin with which needed to be quite straight and corporate for use in a Chinese business publication. Once we felt we had those in the bag we ended the session with a few more relaxed shots for personal use. Nothing like killing two birds with one stone!

Fashion portraits

Portrait photography doesn't have to be staid or overly formal and traditional. If you want your photos to have a bit more of an edge to them or perhaps something more fashion-orientated, we can do that too.

We recently photographed Isabelle, an aspiring actress, who wanted some standard headshots for her spotlight portfolio but also a contemporary collection of images to share with her friends and family.

We banked a few headshots in the studio and then had some fun trying out different outfits, backgrounds, lighting set ups and locations. I have to say Isabelle was a natural in front of the camera - every shot a winner!

A rare self-portrait!

I prefer to be the one taking the photo but here's a rare glimpse at the man behind the lens! Special thanks to my photographer friend Ian Andrews from White Wheel Photography for taking this portrait. Hopefully this portrait allays any fears that I may be that guy called Triggers from Only Fools and Horses!

Lifestyle photography

Whereas some people feel comfortable in a studio with all the bright lights many clients prefer to go out on location somewhere and shoot within their natural surroundings. This can lead to much more relaxed portraits as it's a less alien environment and you can work with natural daylight. We specialise in this kind of lifestyle photography and often shoot locally in Wandsworth Common which is literally round the corner from us.

With Jenny we began with some informal shots indoors just using natural and reflective light before heading off to the Common to catch the last of the sunlight. It was a fun and relaxed session where we managed to capture some beautiful shots.

If you like the idea of doing something similar, whether that's here or nearer to your home, then just let us know.
